Vinted Shoppers Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
